It is with a heavy heart that I announce my decision to step down as Chief Executive of Melbourne Royal, effective 31 August 2026. I am most grateful for the generous offer the Melbourne Royal Board presented to me to continue as Chief Executive for another term, however, I have decided to graciously decline the opportunity. I sincerely thank the Board for their ongoing trust and confidence in my leadership.

Gema Group has considerable event and venue catering expertise and their highly experienced team are committed to enhancing the value, quality, variety and uniqueness of our food and beverage offering at Melbourne Showgrounds including the Melbourne Royal Show.

The Australian International Spirits Awards continues to grow in profile and reputation, with 2026 marking the introduction of international entries to the competition. We are excited to welcome exhibitors from across the globe, with entries already received from 20 international exhibitors, including producers from destinations as unique as the Cook Islands.

Planning for the 2026 Melbourne Royal Show continues to build strong momentum, and there is a real sense of excitement building across the organisation as teams work closely with competition committees, partners, exhibitors and stakeholders toward another outstanding Show.
