Welcome to the first edition of Melbourne Royal News for 2025. The year ahead promises to be exciting with opportunities for growth, innovation, fabulous events, and wonderful celebrations.

The Melbourne Royal Board, management and staff were saddened to learn of the recent passing of Carol Mazurek. Carol had a long-time involvement with Melbourne Royal and was a wonderful employee of Melbourne Royal for more than 43 years. Carol held various roles and was a great asset across several competitions including dog and cattle.

The Melbourne Royal management and staff were saddened to learn of the passing of Peter Heagney. Peter was a long-time figure at Melbourne Royal, where he devoted countless hours to the Horses in Action (HIA) competition, volunteering generously to ensure the success of events and the well-being of the equestrian community. Peter’s knowledge was invaluable—always willing to share his expertise with the Melbourne Royal Show HIA newcomers and seasoned exhibitors alike.

As we approach the festive season, it is an opportunity to reflect and celebrate our 2024 achievements and in doing so acknowledge and thank those who have assisted us during the year.

On Tuesday 10 December, Noelene King retired as a director of the Melbourne Royal Board, ending an impressive 13-year tenure with Melbourne Royal. But this is only the latest chapter in her remarkable journey of over five decades of dedication to Melbourne Royal, the Show, and the agricultural community.
